The Offical Word on Blood Magic

Blood Magic

Since the days of Suxen and Phelgas; Magic was sparse and rare. It was a long time before the Quel'dorei taught the Humani of the Arcane, thus the only source of Magic was from Faith. The Holy Light and the Divine Shadow that the Brothers inspired the Tribes with reigned superior, as Priests and Shadowpriests fought bitterly wielding the power.

However another form of Magic held it's own during the Era. Blood Magic. You see, Blood was a mysterious substance for the Tribes. It was clearly magical, as all the beasts from the Human to the Birds shed Blood. Even alien species shed Blood, be it differing in colour or texture. It aided them to heal, by basic consumption to rubbing it over the wound to form scabs and it was used in poisons to force negative reactions from enemies.

It was this basic alchemical manipulation of Blood that caused the Magic to spawn; from Faith. It was widely believed that Blood was the physical manifestation of the Holy Light, it was the giver and taker of Life and it was energy. After many generations of trials and experiments, eventually, the first Blood Priests and Blood Mages were born. It was said that the Priest, specialised in using Blood to Heal whilst the Mage, used it to harm. They were both considered to be apostles under Suxen and fought with the Light in their hearts.

Yes, in time, history dictates that the Art was taken and adapted by the Apostles of Phelgas. The Shadow could taint Blood, use it in the same ways to harm and to heal. It was even the founding of Shadowmending but it was never forgotten by the Arathorian people, until the times of the Arcane pushed it under and users of Blood were scattered.

In modern times, Blood has a rather negative stigma surrounding it.
The Orcish Horde were sent under a Blood Haze when they drank from Demons.
The Quel'dorei renamed themselves Sin'dorei, using Blood as a symbol for their sacrifice.
Warlocks, Shadowpriests and Necromancers manipulate Blood for their malevolent means.

But the times when our Ancestors wielded the substance for GOOD, may have been forgotten in time but never by scripture. Thus throughout close research and inspection whilst my late wife was on her deathbed, I found and studied the Art that some consider Dark.
For us to be true to our heritage, this must halt.
Thus I, Orin Orthur Thorgint of the Year 2817 openly welcome Bloodpriests and Mages into the Kingdom's arms. Under close supervision, the Art will be upheld and practiced openly with Suxen in our hearts and our rituals.
