Concerning Arathorians

Arathorians, a special breed of humans as outsiders would say.
What makes Arathorians different from other humans is their still somewhat primitive lifestyle and additude. Let's take a closer look at what makes an Arathorian so special.

- Relation with nature
Even before the great cataclysm, the Arathorians had a close connection with nature and the elements. In the old times they had shamans in every tribe. While there are no more Arathorian shamans left, Arathorian habits die hard. They respect the elements and nature, trying to work in harmony with them.

- Religion
The Arathorians follow a different religion besides the light. The ancestors. They believe that those who came before them watch over them and offer guidance, if given the proper respect. And indeed in many stories the intervention of a long dead ancestor has guided many Arathorian heroes. Many Arathorians practise this religion next to the Light.

- Combat Style
Arathor doesn't have soldiers or knights like Stormwind. Instead every Arathorian is trained from young on to ride a horse and later fight from one. They dress themselves in light armour, arm themselves with spears and bows and ride as a single unit. Though they might lack the punch knights make, they are far more mobile and versatile. Many a battle in the north has been won by an Arathorian cavalry charge.

- Clothing
Arathorians are almost at any time prepared for battle. They usually wear their light chain or scale armour, together with additional armour and cloaks. Also adorning them are the occasional animal trophies.

- Leadership
Arathor is a monarchy, thus they are led by a king/queen. In Arathor, the monarch's word is law. Below the monarch are a few militairy leaders, to which the Arathorians look for leadership if the monarch is unable to. Arathorians have a great respect for their leaders, but they don't accept unworthy or weak leaders.

Relation to Stormwind
Stormwind and Arathor have always been close allies. Stormwind's most celbrated hero, Anduin Lothar, was an Arathorian. After the rebuilding of Stormwind, the two realms have kept a close alliance in which Stormwind has both given aid and benefitted from Arathorian resources. Though amongst the normal folk of both kingdoms there is slight distrust for one another, the leaders know that Arathor and Stormwind cannot do without eachother.
